Wiz lost her left eye in an accident when she was younger, and we thought she would probably never be able to do agility.
When she was about 12 months old, Becca decided to try training her, so off they went, and they learnt together.
They won Elementary (G1) Jumping at their second show, then promptly won out of Starters(G2) too, and then won into senior (G6)in 2006, and Advanced (G7) in 2008.
Her agility training was a learning curve for us all, but the end result has been well worth it!
Wiz is HUGE,standing about 23" at the shoulder! She is lean, lanky and so, so noisy.
She is often found filthy or wet or both! She simply cannot resist getting in water, whatever the weather/temperature! I swear this dog is part Newfoundland!
She has a super temperament and we just love her to bits, although it would be ok if she didn't bark quite so much.
She and Becca have qualified for the Agility Club Junior Handler Final twice, then in 2007 they qualified for the Kennel Club International Young Handlers Final, and for Crufts as part of a YKC team.
During 2008 they have qualified for the YKC Dog Of The Year at Crufts 2009, and again for the International Young Handler final at the Kennel Club International Festival in August.
2009 saw them qualify for Crufts again - this time for the Mini/Mixi pairs final!
Wiz is just a super character, and although she is not as quick as she used to be at agility, she loves it just the same! As long as she is having so much fun, and is physically ok with doing it, we will keep competing with her :-) When it gets too much she can learn a whole load more tricks to keep her occupied! (although the 'open the kitchen cupboard doors' one was about as clever as teaching Katyweasel to 'speak' :/ We have come to regret teaching both of these tricks!!)
